The way to experience ultimate happiness is to let go of all worries and regrets, and to know that being happy is the most satisfying of life's feelings. Reflect back on all the progress in your life and allow the positive, creative and joyous thoughts to outshine and overwhelm any sorrow or grief that may linger in the recesses of your mind. Knowing that disease and disaster are natural parts of life is the key to overcoming adversity with a calm and happy spirit. Happiness is waiting there in front of you. Only you can decide whether or not you choose to experience it. Take this to heart.
--Masaaki Hatsumi, 34th Soke, Togakure Ryu

The art of ninjutsu has a reputation for fighters that are ruthless, unstoppable, and invisible. Their legendary exploits are almost superhuman. At the Marshfield Kamiyama Dojo, we know that legends have a way of being embellished the more they’re repeated — but we also know that in many legends there is a grain of truth.

The training here is both traditional and modern, both hard and soft, intense and relaxed. It is designed to hone your body, mind, and spirit into an unstoppable force of nature. It is frequently hard, sometimes boring, sometimes painful, and usually difficult. It is seldom easy, and most would not call it fun.

Training here is hard work. There are sticks and stones and sharp pointy things. If you’re afraid of hard work, you don’t want to train here. If you’ve got a heart condition, a bum leg, a bad back, or a trick elbow — you don’t want to train here. If you’ve watched some “ninja movies” and think it would be “sweet” to flip out and do crazy ninja stuff, you don’t want to train here. If you think wearing a black belt and funny shoes will make you a badass, you don’t want to train here.
